Waterproof Gypsum Board

Waterproof Gypsum Board is made with an aerated gypsum core, water-repellent additives and strong green paper liners. It is suitable for wet area applications such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and humid interior wall or ceiling systems.

Product Overview

Waterproof Gypsum Board consists of an aerated gypsum core with water-repellent additives, encased in and firmly bonded to strong paper liners. The green paper surface helps identify the board as a wet-area gypsum board product.

This board is designed for interior wet area applications where reduced water absorption and improved moisture performance are required. It is suitable for wall and ceiling systems in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements and other humid indoor areas.

Product Composition

The board is made with a treated gypsum core and water-repellent additives to help reduce water absorption. Strong facing and backing paper liners are bonded to the core to support board strength, handling and installation performance.

Installation Notes

Waterproof gypsum board can be fixed to metal or timber framing systems with drywall screws. Tapered edges allow joints to be reinforced with joint tape and joint compound for a smooth finishing surface.

For wet area wall and ceiling systems, installation should follow suitable project requirements, joint treatment methods and local building practices. In areas with direct or continuous water exposure, additional waterproofing system design may be required.

Storage

  • Dry environment: Store gypsum boards in a dry, well-ventilated area to prevent moisture absorption and damage.
  • Flat surface: Lay boards flat on a level surface or pallets to avoid warping or bending.
  • Avoid direct ground contact: Use supports or pallets to keep boards off the floor and protect them from dampness.
  • Protect from weather: Keep boards covered if stored outdoors to shield them from rain or extreme weather.
  • Stack safely: Limit stacking height to prevent crushing or damage to lower boards.

Use Limitations

Waterproof gypsum board is designed for wet area interior applications with reduced water absorption. It should not be treated as a substitute for a complete waterproofing system in areas with continuous water immersion, exterior exposure or severe water pressure.
